Bailout Nation was written by Barry Ritholtz. Ritholtz is the author of the famous economic blog "The Big Picture" and CEO and Director of Equity Research at Fusion IQ, an online quantitative research firm.
Bailout Nation is an excellent book. It breaks down the causes of the financial crisis from multiple angles. Ritholtz includes a history of bailouts and charts and graphs to support his analysis. The research is through and the analysis is beyond reproach.
If nothing else the book is a great way to brush up on economic history in the US and to better understand the long term affects of government intervention.
One of the interesting things about this book is that it's not politically biased. The book also reveals that the blame for the financial crisis of 2008 is much more widespread than most people would believe. Bailout Nation takes an evenhanded and unbiased approach to analyzing the real causes of the financial crisis. At the end of the book, there is even a section that discusses possible solutions.
This book is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in economics. For forex traders, it's a worthwhile study of economics in the US in particular. Bailout nation is easily one of the most honest and straight forward books on economics that I have ever read.
