Forex forums present a solid opportunity to network with other traders and to get some insight to what other traders see in the markets and how they are reacting.
You may ask, what kind of traders frequent forex trading forums?
I'm so glad you asked, here is a basic run down of the types of people you will typically encounter:
The Green Trader
The new guy is pretty easy to pick out, has a lot of ideas about trading, most of them being incorrect. The green trader is is usually just trying to figure out how it all works while trading a demo account and trading with high leverage on short timeframes.
The Know-it-all
The know it all trader is the trader that will figure out the flaw in everyone's trading plan. They will attack the analysis and trades presented by traders both new and old. The know it all trader usually boast about how much money they are making (and how much you aren't). The know it all is usually a trader trading a demo account after they have lost all their money.
The Troll
The troll might not even be a real trader at all. They will say things to purely stir things up, cause heated discussions, and just generally draw fire and waste time. The troll is just a bored person or trader with too much free time.
The Novel Writer
The novel writer is a generally good guy. The novel guy will attempt to explain in full long winded detail their decisions and plans for trading. The novel writer is forever in a philosophical pursuit of forex trading profit.
The System Trader
The system trader is always trying out a technical system that they found on the internet or made up themselves. It's usually a new system every few weeks, and "this one, will work for sure!"
You are sure to meet some interesting people on forex forums. All in search of the holy grail of course. Forex forums are still a worthwhile place to hang around and get some ideas. Not all the ideas that come from them will be good, but they will help you to expand the way you think and come up with new ideas.
